Weather Data Services

Possible sinks / sources for weather data exchange.

• Existing weather reporting systems. e.g. Met Office Voluntary Observing Ships. Can we gather data for this? (https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/learn-about/how-forecasts-are-made/observations/marine-observations)
• cf. Shipbourne Automatic Weather Station (AWS) - Met Office supplied device with Iridium uplink.

• Can observations of sufficient accuracy for weather modelling be taken from small boats? What about sea temperature, salinity, turbidity?

Windy, a weather forecast model display app, will accept and display readings from any station. https://stations.windy.com/ Forum post info There is a SignalK plugin to send data to them.
